Restoration of Analog Tapes by Harrison Birtwistle & Justin Connolly
This research and restoration project preserves historic electronic music recordings by Harrison Birtwistle and Justin Connolly, realized by pioneer Peter Zinovieff. 15 tape recordings scattered across multiple continents in critical condition are professionally restored: physical repair, archive transfers at 352 kHz quality, sound enhancement (noise reduction, wow and flutter correction), and creation of graphic scores. The project rescues, among others, the only 8-track source of Birtwistle's Chronometer and makes these significant contemporary music works fully accessible for the first time in improved quality.
