Editorial approach & methodology
A directory is only as good as its upkeep. This is how we work — transparent, verifiable, with clear rules.
Where the data comes from
Every entry is based on the funder's original call and links to it. We take over facts (deadline, funding amount, conditions); the descriptions are generated from the verified facts and reviewed editorially — we do not copy third-party texts and do not mirror other databases.
How current the information is
- Daily, the system recalculates all deadline statuses — expired calls are automatically marked as "deadline passed", never silently deleted (many programmes reopen every year).
- Continuously, entries are checked against their source page and new calls are added from more than 700 curated sources.
- Every detail page shows its "last checked" date. The original call is always authoritative.
Current stock: 432 programmes, 432 of them open or rolling.
Found an error? A call missing?
We apply corrections promptly: info@kunst-stipendium.de. Funders can submit calls free of charge (form in German) — every submission is checked editorially against its source before it appears.
Independence & funding
The directory is free and independent. It is financed through clearly labelled recommendations: ArtistFolio is our own product; third-party partner links always carry the label "Anzeige" (ad) and only appear with your consent. Inclusion in the directory cannot be bought — editorial entries and advertising are strictly separated.
Who is behind this
Published by Jan Pleitner, visual artist (janpleitner.de) — with years of first-hand experience applying for grants and residencies. This directory is the tool he wished he had had as an artist.
